  I was concerned about some of the reviews about this Hotel but I am glad to say It has its faults but I was far from disappointed and would definitely visit it again.
  
  First of all the staff are first class.They really go out of their way to help you as best they can.
  
  I can understand why other reviewers stated they were unhappy with the service but I do not believe it warrants criticism of the Staff.
  
  First of all the Hotel undoubtedly is understaffed.Which is a pity.
  
  I have noticed that two Staff working after 4pm are expected to cover the Bar, Restaurant and Check In area and they are run off their feet.
  
  From past review's management does not seem to take this on board.
  
  A single employee more can easily rectify this.its not rocket science.
  
  They staff apologize all the time to Guests for delayed attention to guests as a result which must be embarrassing for them.
  
  The receptionist which is a lovely friendly lady finishes at 4 pm. She has a raft of local knowledge so feel free to pick her brains as she is very friendly and accommodating.
  
  The rooms are spotless with very high ceilings.After all it is the first purpose built hotel in Ireland and it is over 200 years old.
  
  There is only single glazing as it is a listed historical building so the owners have very little scope for making changes externally and internally.
  
  In summary
  
  It is centrally located the heart of a lovely historical heritage village and 150m from Lismore castle with plenty of scenic walks.
  Excellent welcoming overworked staff.
  
  Could do with a touch up of decoration etc but it is in character with its age.look at the paintings on the walls...visually out of date but entertaining,Scenes of 1800s Venice i think.
  
  Would I go back...Without a doubt.
  
  Well worth a visit and you can say you stayed in the oldest purpose built hotel in Ireland creaky stairs and all
  
  Be patient in customer care as it is not the staffs fault.
